Prime Intellect’s October 13 announcement makes Moondream 3.1 available through Prime Inference. Credits for Moondream Cloud customers were promised for the following days. Verify the endpoint, credit balance and platform pricing before migrating a visual workflow.
If you use a vision model to organize images or inspect screenshots, a change in where it is served affects more than the model name. Prime Intellect’s October 13, 2026 announcement says it acquired Moondream and made Moondream 3.1 available through Prime Inference. Original announcement.
Check the route your workflow will use
Prime describes its hosted inference as an OpenAI-compatible API. That is an interface statement; you still need to establish which endpoint, model and account your application will use. Developer entry point.
A small asset-tagging task is a useful proposed comparison. Choose a folder whose contents you understand, including an image that could plausibly receive two tags. Inspect the suggested labels against the actual files, and decide how an uncertain result should be handled. Keep human review for that case rather than silently filing it under the wrong project. Moondream documents image-query tagging workflows; we have not run this example.
For a handful of assets, manual tagging can finish the job. A larger workflow needs a repeatable acceptance check, not just a plausible demonstration.
Separate the credit promise from the bill
Prime said Moondream Cloud customers would receive platform credits in the following days. That announcement does not verify an individual balance or complete an account migration for you. Check the account before scheduling a batch.
Moondream’s own Cloud pricing page lists 3.1 real-time usage at $0.30 per million input tokens and $1 per million output tokens. Those are Moondream Cloud rates. We have not verified them as a Prime account quote, or established a country-specific deployment option.
The acquisition post also includes vendor comparisons backed partly by unpublished internal measurements. They do not establish the speed, accuracy or total cost of your asset workflow. Before moving it, record the current endpoint and behavior, inspect a small comparison and review the actual bill.
Our AI output evaluation guide explains how to turn that comparison into a decision you can check again later.
