At a glance
Descript’s October 12 roundup adds asynchronous recording requests on Enterprise drives, with a script, expiry and audience options. It also adds drive-wide search and Underlord file lookup. Check drive access, then prepare one short contribution brief before creating a request.

You need a short contribution from a guest, but finding a shared time is taking longer than the recording itself. Descript’s October 12, 2026 roundup, posted in its changelog on October 13, adds recording requests that guests can complete when it suits them. The feature is available on Enterprise drives. Dated index, release details.
Make the brief small enough to answer
The request can include instructions or a script to read from a teleprompter. You set an expiry and choose whether only drive members or anyone with the link can record. Descript notifies you after the recording finishes processing. Request controls.
An illustrative brief for a product video might ask for one sentence explaining the problem and one showing how the person uses the product. State the desired framing, approximate length and where the contribution will appear. Those details help the guest produce something you can edit without a second round of instructions. We have not sent or recorded this example.
Choose the request audience to match the guest. A drive-only request and a link intended for an outside contributor serve different jobs; decide that before distributing the link.
Find the footage after it arrives
The same roundup adds search across projects, files and folders in a drive. Underlord can also look up those items and layout packs. Drive search.
A descriptive request title now does two jobs: it tells the guest what to record and gives you something useful to search later. Use a project or campaign name that your team already recognizes.
If you already have an Enterprise drive, prepare a small brief and review the request controls there. Descript’s Enterprise pricing information directs buyers to sales; there is no fixed Enterprise quote in this article. For an occasional guest contribution, a clearly briefed recording delivered as a file can still do the job without adopting a new plan.
Our Descript editing guide explains what happens once the recording is in the project.

- Can every Descript plan create an asynchronous recording request?
- The release notes specify Enterprise drives for this feature. Check your drive’s access rather than assuming it is included in every plan.
