At a glance
BaoCut’s October 12 release adds local music and video soundtracks. Its release notes restrict the bundled music model’s output to non-commercial use. Try it on a personal project; use music with suitable rights for paid work.
The pictures are cut, the dialogue sounds right, and your video still needs music. BaoCut can now make that track on your computer and put it into the edit. Before using it for a client, though, look at the music terms.
The October 12, 2026 release adds local generation with YuE2 3B. Its notes describe the generated music as non-commercial only. That makes the intended use of your video part of the decision, even before you hear a result. 3.4.0 release notes.
A soundtrack inside the edit
After an approximately 4.6 GB model download, Generate soundtrack places music on the timeline as an undoable edit. The model has a 300-second limit; longer videos use repeated audio with crossfades. Music-generation details.
For a long interview, that matters: filling the timeline does not mean the music develops throughout the conversation. Listen around repetitions and scene changes, then decide whether the track still supports the story.
The editor and the music have separate terms
BaoCut’s Community License permits commercial content creation with the editor. It is a source-available licence, and separately licensed components retain their own terms. Permission to edit a paid video is therefore not a blanket permission to use every model or soundtrack in it.
Consider an illustrative 45-second personal travel video. A local soundtrack could give you something to audition beneath the narration. Check whether the music masks words, whether the ending lands cleanly, and whether your intended use fits the model’s terms. We have not generated or listened to that example.
If the same edit becomes a client advert or goes onto a monetized channel, choose music with appropriate commercial rights before delivery. Keeping that decision early avoids finishing the edit around a track you must replace. For the separate job of adapting audio to a cut, see our Suno Studio clip-editing coverage.
Check the package before downloading
The author’s 3.4.1 follow-up, also published October 12, keeps public Mac downloads on Apple Silicon/macOS 14+. Its new Intel packaging path is local-only, not a public notarized installer.
The Build 69 installation guide also lists unsigned Windows x64 packages, external ffmpeg/ffprobe dependencies and a signed-in engine for agent features. Start with a short personal project and confirm the package, dependencies and music-use terms before committing a larger edit.
